CJ WINES specialises in wines from France, Italy and Hungary but occasionally sells wines from the New World and other emerging wine regions. Our passion, if you like, is "terroir wines" or put another way "wines with origin and expression that reflect the soil, grape variety, exposure to the sun and other natural influences".
We do not sell commercially driven wines that are mass-produced and sold in national chains. We buy as much wine as we can direct from the growers, farmers and wine estates. The wines that we import give us a unique, sometimes rare offering of high quality, handcrafted wines.
Our special relationship with the winemakers allows us to understand better their philosophy, their passion, the history and traditions of their land where the vine grows. We believe it is very important to build a strong understanding of what quality wine is all about and share what we learn with our customers.
We spend many weeks scouring the vineyards of Europe every year, in search of wines that create an emotion inside us when we drink them and most importantly wines that offer the wine enthusiast a new, sometimes challenging but very exciting experience. Yes it is hard work but someone has to take care in providing for those of us who care about what is in our glass and where it has come from.
Fact: About 80% of our entire wine portfolio, is not available anywhere else in the UK and we are very proud to represent all the wineries we work with directly. We like to think that in some small way we are helping to expose talented winemakers and great wines to a wider more appreciative audience, that would otherwise be lost in this commercially driven world.
I hope that you will place trust in our wines and the service we offer and enjoy the experience for the long term but please feel free to call us on 01223 265589 if you need any assistance.
